The Youth Advocacy Program (YAP) provides student representation at Board of Education hearings for children who have been formally suspended from school. YAP also works closely with families whose children have been diagnosed as learning disabled or in need of special education services. The goal of the program is to ensure children's due process rights are protected, so that they may return to an appropriate learning environment in a timely fashion. Advocacy involves working with parents and diffusing the side issues. We also help the children with their behavior and counsel them on what to do if the situation happens again. Each year, YAP assists over 1,000 students. View our Student Suspension Handbook for help on the suspension process. For more information, call Greenard Poles at 853-0600 Contact Information |
